AUSTIN STAULCUP

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Austin Staulcup was born into a family of artists, but he did not realize his own affinity until he was leaving high school,  venturing into college. His paternal great grandparents were both professional artists; his great grandfather having been a widely published comic book artist. His grandmother was a talented storybook illustrator, a graphic designer, and painter. His great uncle worked for DC and was the illustrator of the Little Orphan Annie comics, a pioneer in the field. It’s surprising that, with this lineage, his own talents were not tapped into for some time.

After years of playing competitive football with thoughts of the sport shaping his future, Austin sustained irreparable damage to both hands and faced traumatic surgery. It wasn’t until he was forced to refrain from the physical that he discovered his creative drive. Digital drawing by way of vector graphics opened up visually expressive outlets for him he never knew would be so meaningful.

Now years into his passion for creation, Austin’s artistic focus revolves around the comic realm. A lifelong Marvel fanatic, it brings him such great joy to create his own characters from the inside out, and to devise intricate storylines where he is able to see his creations come to life.

It is Austin’s hope that many will enjoy this interactive experience- his mind having manifested an alternative life.
